The Dolby Atmos Renderer is designed for nearfield mixing rooms being used to create content for Blu-ray and Streaming Delivery. This version of software is not designed for mixing movies in large theatrical mix rooms, or creating master files destined for DCP Delivery. For this workflow a cinematic license is needed. The process of obtaining a cinema license for the Dolby Atmos Renderer is managed by the Dolby Content Services Group. Once a dub stage has met all technical requirements and signed a service agreement, the license for creating theatrical content will then be provided by a CSG team member prior to the commissioning of the dub stage. The Dolby Atmos Renderer allows for creation of Home Entertainment Dolby Atmos master files (.atmos) ADM BWF.wav and IMF IAB.mxf files, whereas the Cinematic license allows creation of both Home Entertainment master files, along with the DCP MXF Atmos file.
